CITY BASEBALL TEAMS 15 TO 18U

CITY BASEBALL TEAMS 15 TO 18U
City Baseball's Off Season Training Program for our teams composed of high school student athletes starts the first week of November and end roughly at the close of February. During this time players train twice a week weekdays and scrimmage or train on a Saturday or Sunday each weekend. In addition, high school aged ball players participate in strength and conditioning sessions twice a week.
Strength and Conditioning is a central part of City Baseball's team offering to the high school aged player. Wes Long's, City President and Director of Instruction, personal baseball philosophy emphasizes a dedication to getting stronger and faster. Baseball is a speed and strength game. To this end the Club maintains a 3,000 square foot weight training center within our baseball facility. The Club's ball players are introduced to weight training in their 13U year with body resistance techniques and they are taught professionally as they advance in safe but rigorous strength and speed training.
Preparing for the High School Season The Off Season Program will close with a number of scrimmages or games to insure the Club's high school student athletes have live at bats and innings pitched ahead of their high school baseball season. These live games in January or February are intended to prepare ball players for their high school tryouts and high school baseball seasons.
The Regular Season May to July, for City's 15U to 18U players is a mix of league play and tournament play. The schedules will vary somewhat from team to team based on a team's willingness and interest in traveling, but all high school aged teams will play at least 50 games including those played before the high school season.
Most teams will play in the Seattle Elite League and compete in 6 to 7 weekend long tournaments. Teams typically travel for two or more of these events. Tournament sites over the last two seasons have included Bend, OR, Portland, Yakima, Wenatchee, Pasco, Pullman, and Vancouver B.C.
A few teams, based on their competitiveness and willingness to travel, will travel further, once or twice, to a more competitive event in Las Vegas, Steamboat Springs, CO, Nashville, Phoenix, San Diego, or Atlanta as examples.
Personal Use of City's Indoor Facility during the high school baseball season, when the Club's teams are inactive, the Club's high school aged players are encouraged to use the City Baseball facility on their own or in small group with other City ball players. Dedicated open weight room and cage time will be set up and reserved to them for this purpose.
City Baseball's College Placement Program is an integral part of the Club's offering to our high school aged players. For a more detailed discussion of the Club's College Placement Program see the CPP tab under the Programs tab. Suffice to say here that assuming the student athlete is dedicated to their goal of competing as a college athlete every personal effort of City's entire staff is made to aid them in their recruiting process. City's staff, led by Wes Long, are qualified to advise players and families on the wide range of post-high school baseball opportunities. Wes Long, and his staff, using their personal connections in college baseball have a long and fruitful history of advocating for and credibly recommending City Baseball players.
